Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian 5,199 meters (17,057 ft) and Nelion at 5,188 metres (17,021 ft).
While Point Lenana sits at 4,985 metres (16,355 ft) the mountain is in central Kenya, about 16.5 kilometers south of the equator. In addition it is 150 kilometers north-northeast of the capital Nairobi. Mt Kenya Climbing expedition is a must try experience whilst in Kenya
Nairobi
After breakfast your guide will pick you and you Proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2440m. From the gate follow the track as it winds uphill though the forest which becomes heath land after about 3 hrs. About 3½ hours from the gate the track veers right to Judmier Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight
After breakfast, with your guide you will start trekking again following the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp, 4200m
This day we start Early Morning at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Shiptons 2hrs, for breakfast and further hrs down to Judmier Camp, 3300 m, for dinner and overnight.
Descend 2hr, to the park gate to get your transfer to Nanyuki town to connect shared transport back to Nairobi.
